Like cattle to water

Posted by Charles Herman on October 23, 2009

Well its been a while since the last post here but there has been a lot going on in my life.

Just a quick observation that I made today while sitting in the break room for my lunch hour.
I was one of the first to clock out for lunch today so that left me with plenty of time to watch people in the line for the time clock and wait for the PSP load up my favorite game.

Now there are 2 clocks that can be used for coming and going here. Side by side and identical in function. At my work place we use 2 different styles of time cards but they both work the same in how they punch the time cards. You line up the in or out on the card with the red line on the time clock press in and it stamps the time on the card.

We use 2 different time cards because of the type of work being done. Some of us have to keep tract of the amount of work being done and some of us don’t. The ones that don’t far out number the ones of us that do for my time of taking lunch so there are more people in one line than the other. Now I have already said that the time clocks work the same. When I looked up there where probably 3 people in front of one clock and at least 15 in front of the other. No reason for this other than we were told that one clock is for one style of card and the other clock was for the other style.

The reason that this annoys me is that there is no reason other than most people get into a habit and if they even think about doing something different that may change the way that they go through the day (even having an extra minute for lunch) then they can not function. I think the biggest reason that this happens where I work is that most of the people that work around me are older.

Fireworks

Posted by Charles Herman on July 5, 2009

What the hell is the deal with going in debt on fireworks every year? I was at a place last night and there was a family had 3 grocery carts loaded with fireworks. I seen some small stuff in them but mostly stuff that was marked at $50.00 or more. Some I seen marked while I was looking around were over $200.00 and these people were grabbing crap off of the tables while we were standing there. If it was my guess I would bet that they spend around 2 grand.

I spent 40 bucks, started shooting them off at around 8 and did not get done till 11. There were fireworks going off all around us. I had a blast.

Don’t get me wrong, I love that other people spend that much but, damn. I don’t see why the hell people think that they need to spend that much.

I don’t know, maybe if I had that kind of money I would be spending that much too. But would hope not.

Anyway hope every one had a happy and somewhat safe 4th.

Hot Springs part 2

Posted by Charles Herman on July 3, 2009

I know its been most of a week since I have posted anything here. It has been a hell of a week. The Hot Springs craft fair was not what it was last year. I only made about 2/3′s what I did a year ago. All well I guess.

We are getting ready for the 4th of July here. Don’t know how that one is going to go for sure but it should be interesting. Sounds like its going to be a busy day tomorrow tho. The wife is getting off of work at 2 then we will be running to Gering to the in-laws. From there its pictures of the kids and then dinner. I would love to go play a little disc golf but I doubt that will happen since it will be pretty late and all the kids will be wanting to set off fireworks. We will see.

Then after the fireworks start I think there my be a couple drinks involved. Don’t know yet but I am really hoping so.
